50% of the Lunar Legacy proceeds raised go towards the teams and operations of those competing to win the Google Lunar X PRIZE. These are the exciting entrepreneurs who are building the spacecraft that may carry your Lunar Legacy to the lunar surface. They are the mavericks and innovators of our time. How will my photo and message travel to the moon? |
A Your photo will travel as a digital image on a DVD (or other memory device) that will be carried on the private spacecrafts traveling to the lunar surface in pursuit of the Google Lunar X PRIZE. NASA and other government bodies have sent digital images into space in the past, but the Lunar Legacy program is the first user-generated, multimedia time capsule being built to travel to another celestial body. Your photo will truly be a part of human history.

How can I show other people the picture and message I submitted as a Lunar Legacy? |
A Once your image and message has been approved, you will receive an email from Lunar Legacy Mission Control with a link to your Lunar Legacy. You can share this link with friends, family, and extraterrestrials just by sending it to them in an email.

How can I change the picture or text that I submitted as my Lunar Legacy? |
A If you received an email from Mission Control informing you that your Lunar Legacy has been approved, then your Legacy has been archived for the trip into space and can no longer be altered. However, if your Legacy has been rejected, then you will receive an email with instructions for swapping your picture, or editing your text message. If you believe there was an error in the approval/rejection process, please contact the administrator at legacyadmin@xprize.org
